Welcome to Bright Beginnings Crèche and Playschool

We hope you will find our centre as a home away from home for your child and find it a welcoming environment for both parents and children alike.  We believe that Crèche/Playgroup life should develop gradually out of home life and we hope to build a firm relationship with your family and especially your child.

Caheragh Community Playgroup Ltd was founded in 1988 by local parents and the Southern Health Board (now TUSLA). Since then, the facility has proved to be of valuable support in the community and has very often provided much needed early intervention services for children.

The facility is run by the Community, for the Community and is a  non-profit making organisation.

The Playgroup applied under the new National Childcare Investment Programme 2006-2010 which is under the umbrella of Pobal for funding and was awarded funds to build and equip a purpose built facility. The premises were planned with the assistance of the HSE to the highest standard and are inspected yearly as per regulations.

Bright Beginnings follow Aistear: the Early Childhood Curriculum Framework for children from birth to six years in Ireland.

Our facility consists of a Board of Directors and a Committee.  The Committee is made up of parents; these positions are reviewed annually at the A.G.M.  We value the parents individually and their input is vital to the running of the school, whether it be a position on the Committee, or helping with fund raising events.  This is empowering for the parents, as they are able to have real input into the early years education of their child.

We operate an open door policy in our centre especially at the settling in period and want you to feel free to contact the crèche leaders anytime.

Our crèche caters for 3 babies and 10 toddlers from 3 months up to 6 years of age.

The playschool have 2 sessions catering for 22 children from two and a half up to six years of age. The playschool sessions run from 9.00am to 12.00 noon and 12.15pm to 3.15pm.

Meet our Staff

The Crèche employ staff who are fully qualified with a minimum qualification of FETAC level 5 in childcare and who bring a variety of experience and knowledge to the children and the setting.

All staff hold a current First Aid certificate and also have current Garda vetting to meet with HSE standards. Our ratios of staff to children will always be within HSE standards.

Staff work rotating shifts, maintaining maximum supervision between 8.00am – 6.30pm and ensuring continuity of care. Additional staff are employed to supervise children while group staff have breaks and planning time. Staff have a professional attitude toward each other, parents/guardians and children, and recognise the importance of confidentiality when communicating with parents/guardians.

Staff are encouraged to participate in further education and development to maintain their enthusiasm; contribute to the Crèche and to develop their own careers. These courses include; speech and language, manual handling, fire safety, healthy eating and Aistear Curriculum workshops.
